How does Priceline.com work?

Priceline.com is an online travel website. Ultimately, it is very similar to other travel sites like Orbitz.com and Kayak.com. Flights, dar rentals, and hotel stays can all be planned and purchased with just a few clicks. The big difference between Priceline and its competitors is the abilty to bid on travel. Well, that and William Shatner commericals, but we digress.

When you say, "bid on travel" do you mean that I name my own price? Yes, that's exactly what we mean. You put in the price you are willing to pay, and Priceline reports back to you later with whether your offer was accepted.

But this, as with everything, comes with it's own set of sacrifices. In order to bid, you will need to have a bit more flexibility with your arrival and departure dates and/or times. Also note that if you put in an offer on a flight, car rental, or hotel you are obligated to purchase if the bid is accepted.
