Should I buy an HD-DVD or Blu-Ray DVD player?

Blu-Ray is the way to go. Up until about January 2008 this was a tough question, but recently HD-DVD has been discontinued, and new players and media will not be produced.

The picture quality offered by Blu-Ray technology is fantastic, and nearly all the major movie studios have jumped on the bandwagon, so you'll start seeing more and more feature films being released on Blu-Ray. If you're looking to jump on the bandwagon too, DeGeeked recommends this Sony Blu-Ray player.

That is not to say that you shouldn’t get an HD-DVD player. They can be found for cheap, and they are a fantastic replacement for your old DVD player. Why? They are great at upconverting your old DVDs and making them look much better on your big HDTV TV. MUCH better than your old, regular DVD player. This HD-DVD player from Toshiba is what we'd get.

If you don't want to have to decide, go with this Blu-Ray/HD-DVD combo from LG and get the best of both worlds.
